The Transfer Project Social Causes and Effects of Radical Islam in Germany and Europe (RADIS) supports and facilitates research projects investigating the causes of radicalisation, effective prevention strategies and the impact of Islamism on society and associated discourse. After five years of research across Germany, RADIS would now like to take the conversation to an international level. Building on the findings of the recently published edited volume, „Islamism as a Societal Challenge: Causes, Consequences, Strategic Responses“, the symposium will bring together European scholars to explore radicalisation processes and the role of global and transnational dynamics in shaping them.
In a compact two-hour format, short inputs will open up key themes and perspectives, creating space for a lively comparative discussion. Following the symposium, a German-language follow-up session will offer an opportunity to reflect on the findings in the context of the German research landscape and to discuss implications for future research in Germany.
