Its potential for integration into the military domain, along with its role in the self-manufacture of armaments by non-state actors, has made the technology a focus point for discussion. This report presents a unique overview of the sociotechnical environment of additive manufacturing in the military sector. It discusses the relevant actors and showcases real-life applications to shed light on the factors influencing and limiting its use as a military capability.
