RADIS – Transfer Project Social Causes and Effects of Radical Islam in Germany and Europe

Logo Radis

RADIS offers a structurally unique approach to working on the phenomenon of Islamist extremism and the transfer of knowledge to civil society, authorities, and administration. The aim of the project is to support and monitor research projects that are part of the BMBF funding program “Societal causes and effects of radical Islam in Germany and Europe”. In this program, 12 research projects are investigating this multifaceted field from different disciplinary perspectives and cover a variety of research topics. Topics include the causes of radicalization, helpful prevention strategies, or the effects of Islamism on society and the associated discourses. RADIS creates communication channels and transfer opportunities among the research projects and with decision makers in parliaments, administrations, civil society, security authorities, and the media.

The objectives of RADIS:

RADIS brings the projects together through joint events and regular exchange in such a way that empirical as well as methodological synergies arise and exciting impulses for the respective research designs can be developed. This interdisciplinary exchange provides added value for the individual projects.

The research results are made visible and accessible to a wider audience. Access to different formats and platforms enables continuous transfer between diverse stakeholders and events. Various target groups are at the center of the knowledge transfer (e. g. teachers, students, politicians). RADIS is producing an anthology for researchers in the field and two blog-series for the interested specialized public.

RADIS organizes dialogues with decision-makers in politics, administration, security authorities, and civil society and supports the projects in making the results usable for different professional areas. To this end, handouts for practitioners will be produced.
