eLearning

[Translate to Englisch:]

What are the direct and indirect effects of the use of nuclear weapons? How will artificial intelligence, autonomous weapons systems or cheaply produced drones change future wars? And what is the European Union's agenda at the intersection of disarmament and arms control?

In order to deal confidently and competently with current debates on arms issues, we need sound basic knowledge in the areas of non-proliferation, disarmament and arms control, but also in the specific details of various weapons systems, their developments and their sometimes gender-specific effects on people and the environment.

Within the scope of its activities in the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium, PRIF operates a Europe-wide eLearning program with the purpose of developing expertise in the fields of arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament.

Our eLearning program consists of 20 learning units  that impart basic knowledge related to the issues of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, small arm and light weapon controls, banning anti-personnel and cluster munitions, questions of export controls and terrorism, and new technological developments in the armament sector. The course units place particular emphasis on explaining the EU’s role in each of these fields.

A total of 28 experts from European think tanks and the EU have contributed to the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament eLearning course.

The eLearning program is available freely and without registration. It also has an evaluation component through which participants may register and receive a certificate.

The program targets university students as well as diplomats and journalists.
