PRIF-researchers present findings to Federal Foreign Office and the Permanent Mission in New York

On August 20, 2025, PRIF researchers Simone Wisotzki, Anna Hauschild, and Clara Perras together with Associate Fellows Jana Baldus (European Leadership Network) and Anna-Katharina Ferl (Stanford University), conducted a two-hour digital workshop with representatives from the German Foreign Office and the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations in New York. During the workshop entitled “Feminist Foreign Policy and Arms Control: An Impact Analysis” participants discussed the initial findings of the evaluation study of the same name. This study compares the fields of nuclear and humanitarian arms control, as well as new technologies in this area.

The evaluation study is based on a thorough analysis of public documents, such as diplomatic statements, and qualitative interviews with civil society and international organization representatives, as well as representatives from the Federal Foreign Office and the Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva.

Valuable insights gained from the interactive exchange and discussion format of the workshop will inform the finalization of an internal report for the Federal Foreign Office. The report will evaluate the measures, goals, and implementation of Germany’s feminist foreign policy in various areas of arms control and disarmament policy. Additionally, the results will be published in public outlets, such as the PRIF Report and the ELN Policy Brief, making them accessible to a broad audience of political decision-makers, civil society, and academic experts.
