Antonia Witt participated in a panel discussion on the occasion of International Peace Day

On Monday, September 22, Antonia Witt participated in a panel discussion organized by Pro Peace and the United Nations Association of Germany (DVGN) in Bonn. To mark International Peace Day, she joined Ulrich Schlie (Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies in Bonn) and Natalia Jagolski (DVGN youth delegate at the Peacekeeping Summit 2025), to discuss the impact of the current crisis in international peacekeeping on the ground and how to achieve peace today.

The United Nations, founded 80 years ago with the mission of securing peace in the world, is more challenged than ever given the current number of wars and armed conflicts. In her contribution, Witt explained how the crisis in international peacekeeping is manifesting itself and where positive examples of international peacekeeping can be found. She also discussed the role of civil societies in resolving conflicts without violence and their importance for the future of international peacekeeping.

The panel discussion was organized by Pro Peace and the DVGN in cooperation with the Gustav Stresemann Institute, the Plattform Zivile Konfliktbearbeitung, the Network of the German Peace Movement, and the City of Bonn.

Antonia Witt heads the Research Group African Intervention Politics in PRIF’s Glocal Junctions Research Department, where she researches African interventions and the continent’s peace and security architecture.
