DAAD Funds Three-Month Research Stay at PRIF

Under the scholarship programme “GROW – Global Research Opportunities for the South,” Sait Matty Jaw, a doctoral researcher at the University of The Gambia, will begin a three-month research stay at PRIF on November 8, 2026. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is thereby supporting Sait Matty Jaw’s research and his ongoing cooperation with PRIF. In Frankfurt, he will work closely with his colleagues in the Programme Area Local Peace Orders, where he is already an associate member of the research group African Intervention Politics.

The GROW programme enables early-career and experienced researchers from countries on the OECD DAC list to undertake initiation and cooperation trips as well as research stays for independent project work. It is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Sait Matty Jaw is co-founder and director of the Center for Research and Policy Development (CRPD) in The Gambia. He is currently investigating the legal reckoning with the rule of former President Yahya Jammeh. At PRIF, he is also conducting research in the project “Local Perceptions of Regional Interventions” on the experiences of citizens in Burkina Faso and The Gambia with the regional organisations AU and ECOWAS.
