PRIF Meets Grotesque Theatre

With her play “Es gibt Schlim­meres als Sex zu haben” (“There are worse things than sex”), Susanne Boetsch, PRIF's Administrative Director, wins the 2024 Frankfurter Autoren­theater­markt competition, organized by the Frank­furter Autoren Theater (FAT). Founded in 2007, the theatre specialises in providing a public forum for the works of Frankfurt playwrights. The annual call for sub­missions invites artists from the Rhine-Main region to submit works in various forms for production.

Susanne Boetsch has long been active as a playwright. In her tragic-comic plays, she deals with the absurdity of seemingly everyday life - as in her award-winning grotesque about the undignified con­sumption of people's private lives. In it, a university lecturer and his family (because he cannot renew his contract) end up in the container of a live reality show, and he tries to bring some class to the world of tele­vision - or is it fake news and they are all actors?

In the past, Susanne Boetsch was in charge of the project Making Crises Visible at PRIF, in which students at the Offen­bach am Main College of Design developed creative visuali­zations and com­mentaries on the research findings of the Leibniz Research Alliance “Crises in a Globalized World”. In this context, PRIF also published the children's book “Die Wut­banane”, which aims to support teachers and parents in teaching democracy in a child-friendly way.

“Es gibt Schlim­meres als Sex zu haben” will premiere at the Brot­fabrik cultural center in autumn 2024.
