On June 8 and 9, the Research Group Ecology, Climate and Conflict organized a two-day workshop on the relationship between sustainability, peace, and security. German and international scientists discussed the current state of research and tasks for future projects. It became clear that both climate and environmental changes themselves, as well as measures to prevent or adapt to climate change, can have significant consequences for peace and conflict dynamics. This underscores the central role of peace and conflict research in debates about global and local environmental change. Participants also discussed strategies for ethical and inclusive research and for policy advice in the field.
