Hendrik Simon is a Visiting Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence for the month of April. During his stay at the Department of Law, Simon will focus on the relationship between (the history of) international relations and international law. Following on up on the project “The Justification of War and International Order”, which he is working on with Lothar Brock, he will also examine the legitimation of war in the past and present.
On 9 April, he will also present his award-winning book “A Century of Anarchy? War, Normativity and the Birth of the Modern International Order” at the EUI. The event is open to the public and can be viewed online. For the book, which is based on his dissertation, Simon was awarded the Jost Delbrück Prize of the Walther Schücking Institute for International Law (WSI) and the Helmuth James von Moltke Prize of the German Society for Military and International Humanitarian Law (DGWHV).
The research stay is at the invitation of Arnulf Becker Lorca, Chair in Public International Law at the European University Institute.
