Research Stay at the Swedish Defense University

Frank Kuhn as a Visiting Fellow in Stockholm

From March to June 2026, Frank Kuhn visited the Swe­dish Defense Uni­versity (SEDU) in Stock­holm. As a visiting re­searcher in the Strate­gy Division of the Depart­ment of War Studies, he con­tinued his research on extended nuclear deter­rence and nuclear arms con­trol.

The PRIF Doctoral Researcher pre­sented his work to the Modern Warfare Research Group, which examines various as­pects of strategy, military operations, and tactics from an inter­disciplinary pers­pective. During his visit, he also partici­pated in research seminars hosted by the Depart­ment of War Studies, the Modern War­fare research group, and the Russia Studies research group. Together with July Decar­pentrie from SEDU, he also led the session on nuclear wea­pons and nuclear deter­rence in the military strategy course of the Joint Advanced Command and Staff Pro­gram (HOP).

At PRIF, Frank Kuhn is con­ducting research as part of the Pers­pectives of Arms Control project on the stra­tegic and domes­tic political origins of U.S. nuclear wea­pons policy and arms con­trol initiatives for strate­gic nuclear weapons. During his stay in Sweden, his article on the new French nuclear doc­trine was published.
