On Wednesday, May 13, 2025, the 20th anniversary of the Pact for Research and Innovation was celebrated at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR). This initiative significantly contributes to the funding of major non-university research institutions, including the Leibniz Association and, consequently, PRIF.
To mark the anniversary, an image film was produced featuring representatives from the five major research associations. Among them is Nicole Deitelhoff, who, as a researcher of the Leibniz Association, emphasizes the importance of the pact for the research landscape. The Pact for Research and Innovation not only secures financial support for groundbreaking projects but also highlights the importance of collaboration among various research institutions.
The Pact for Research and Innovation was first established in 2005 between the federal government, the states, the research funding organization German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), and the research organizations Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Leibniz Association, Helmholtz Association, and Max Planck Society. Since then, it has been renewed several times. In 2021, its fourth term began, which, for the first time, will last ten years — until 2030.
