Leibniz Research Alliance Historical Authenticity
PRIF was part of the Leibniz Research Alliance “Historical Authenticity”. Under the leadership of the Centre for Contemporary History (ZZF) in Potsdam, the alliance comprised 18 institutes – covering the areas of history, cultural studies and the social sciences –, research museums from three sections of the Leibniz Association, and four external cooperation partners (Deutsches Historisches Museum, Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel, Zentrum Moderner Orient, Institut für Museumsforschung). The central task of this alliance was to conduct an interdisciplinary study on how societies deal with the past as a resource and instance of cultural self-affirmation. PRIF’s contribution addressed the conflict potential inherent in competing interpretations of history.
The work of the Leibniz Research Alliance “Historical Authenticity” ended in 2022, but is continued by the new Leibniz Research Alliance “Value of the Past”, which commenced its activities on 1 September 2021.
