Economic globalization faces significant challenges from various disruptions to global supply chains and revisionist actors seeking to circumvent the international rules-based system. As a result, many nations are adopting strategies to “de-risk” supply chains, reduce vulnerabilities in critical sectors, and enhance domestic production capacities. This panel will explore how the global economic system has evolved in response to rising challenges and threats and will examine the progress and future directions of trade and economic security policies implemented by major economies: Europe, the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
The event is the second in a trilateral seminar series co-hosted by the Consulates General of Japan, Korea, and the United States in Frankfurt. It features experts, including PRIF researchers, who will discuss their respective countries‘ perspectives and policies on current global issues and areas of mutual interest.
