From June to July 2025, Cheryl Hendricks was a visiting professor and ANCIP fellow conducting research at PRIF. Being the Executive Director of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) in Capetown, South Africa, her areas of expertise and research interests cover conflict management and peacebuilding, the UN Security Council Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda as well as South African foreign policy and regional African security architectures. She has published widely on these topics, including recent situational reports on violent extremism in Nigeria, conflict management and the role of women in Northern Mozambique.
In 2024, Hendricks has been co-awarded the FTGS Global South Feminist Scholar Award by the International Studies Association (ISA). Previously, she was the Executive Director of the Africa Institute of South Africa within the Human Sciences Research Council and Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Johannesburg. From 2005 to 2013, she worked at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS).
