Guest researcher: Falk Litane Petegou from the Protestant University of Central Africa, Cameroon

Falk Litane Petegou analyzes the power asymmetry between ethnic groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

In his research project "Power asymmetry and ethnic conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa states: case study of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)", Falk Petegou studies the question if power asymmetry between the dominant ethnic group and the dominated ethnic groups could explain the permanency of ethnic conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa states, namely in DRC. Secondly, he develops and proposes a model of ethnic conflict prevention based on non-violence and called the Calculus of Horror, which could be applied as a new theory of positive peace in Sub-Saharan Africa States.

From November 2014 until April 2015 Falk Petegou will work closely with Professor Lothar Brock and Dr. Thorsten Gromes from Research Department IV. His stay is made possible by a fellowship from "Brot für die Welt".
