Appointment as new member of the Executive Committee at the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF)

Dr Sabine Mannitz assumes new responsibilities

New challenges and duties are waiting for Sabine Mannitz: On 10th March 2013, the head of PRIF’s Research Group “The Cultural Dynamics of Political Globalisation” was nominated to join the Executive Committee of the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF). From 2013 to her recent nomination, Mannitz had acted as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Endowment.

Within the context of the 15th anniversary of the DSF, who has been the sponsor and cooperation partner of several research projects at PRIF, the foundation adopted a new constitution and reorganized her structure. The newly established Executive Committee, consisting of five people that are being nominated by the Board of Trustees for three years, is henceforth going to manage the operative business, including the majority of funding decisions. The Board of Trustees, now reduced to a size of twelve people, will be responsible for general strategic decisions and act as oversight body. These changes are intended to improve the foundation’s opportunities for action in the area of her core task, i.e. the promotion of peace research, as well as in the areas of networking and joint initiatives.

The German Foundation for Peace Research was founded by the Federal Republic of Germany in October 2000. It aims at promoting the peaceful coexistence of individuals and nations.
