Student Assistant (m/f/d) for interdisciplinary research on aviation and decarbonization

for 10 hours per week, for a period of three months

The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF), based in Frankfurt am Main, deals with current conflicts and their resolution. With over 90 employees from the fields of science, administration and communication, PRIF is one of the largest peace research institutes in Germany. To strengthen our team, we are looking for the following position to be filled as soon as possible:

A student assistant (m/f/d) for 10 hours per week, for a period of three months, in accordance with § 6 WissZeitVG in conjunction with § 82 HHG, with an hourly wage of €14.88 without a degree, €16.13 with a bachelor's degree.

The range of tasks includes:

  • Independently research various technological pathways to reducing emissions from aviation.
  • Critically evaluate policy reports, public statements, and scientific articles about aviation.
  • We will be counting on the candidate to provide engineering and technical expertise to a team of social scientists.
  • Assist team members in seeking to understand how the German military uses aviation, and how decarbonization technologies from the civilian sphere can/cannot be applied.
  • Contribute to the drafting and editing of a scientific article. Coauthorship of the scientific article is possible.

Your profile:

  • You are enrolled at a German university and are currently pursuing a master's degree in Engineering or another scientific discipline, preferably in the field of focus on aviation.
  • Scientific interest in the field of: Aviation, logistics, transportation systems, military operations, and/or related topics.
  • Willingness to work in an international team
  • You work independently and on your own initiative
  • Good spoken and written English language skills, German is a plus, but not a firm requirement.
